Public interest litigation means litigation filed in a Court of law for the protection of public interest, such as pollution, road safety, constructional hazards, lack of proper sanitary conditions, etc. Although, the only focus of such litigation is ‘public interest’, there are various areas where a public interest litigation can be filed, like violation of basic human rights of the poor, content or conduct of government policy, compel municipal authorities to perform a public duty, and violation of religious rights or other fundamental rights.

RENT LAW

Disputes between landlords and tenants have been arising right from the inception of Pakistan; from fixation of fair rent to ejectment proceedings, landlords and tenants are involved in litigation on several grounds. In order to make effective provisions regulating relations between landlords and tenants and protect their interests in respect of rented premises within urban areas, Sindh Rented Premises Ordinance, 1979 is promulgated.
